Kokomo made their 1st car a yellow gear driven Duesenberg in 1928. In 1930 the Kingston toy division bought them out and released a series of vehicles belt driven in which you could interchange some of the parts. Both the Kokomo and Kingston vehicles had a spring loaded front bumper which transmitted the electrical current from a 2 rail fence to the motor. The system also allowed you to race 2 vehicles against each other. The speed was controlled by the transformer. The fence when made from 1928-1930 by Kokomo was a single long piece. When made by Kingston it was made in sections you had to assemble. Some of these are common and some are extremely rare. The depression put an end to production in 1933. These were expensive toys at the time. After the end of production by Lionel of their electrical race sets in 1915 these were the only electric sets made until 1934 when Marklin began production. If anyone would like I can show photos of the other vehicles.
